Defending Paradise

I’ve been fascinated with bird-of-paradise my whole life and it all started with me as a kid cutting out the images of the bird-of-paradise in my great-grandmothers dictionary. Bird-of-paradise have influenced my choices life and shaped the path I’ve taken. I have been fortunate to experience several species in their natural habitat in PNG and Australia. I’ve worked intensively with bird-of-paradise in ex-situ programmes, and I’ve reared and trained the Aru Island greater bird-of-paradise that silenced David Attenborough and I’m the co-coordinator of the king bird-of-paradise breeding programme. I wish for more people to be positively impacted by the splendour and finesse of bird-of-paradise and for that they must be allowed to thrive in nature.
