Verification Process of the Customary Law Community in Waimon Village

Recognition of the rights of the customary law community in Waimon Village, Sorong, Southwest Papua, is now just one step away. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the verification, identification, and validation of the customary law communities of the Igip, Malalu, Fadan, Aresi, and Kasilit clans residing in Waimon Village took place. In addition to the Customary Law Community Committee and relevant local government officials, the verification process was also attended by representatives of the Malamas clan, who acted as witnesses in the process of mapping customary territories and the conduct of customary hearings in Segun. The total verified land area amounted to 9,794.07 hectares.
