The Development of White Copra in Adijaya, Kaimana

Coconut is known as a plant where every part of the tree and its fruit can be utilized, so it is widely cultivated by the community in the homeland. Recognizing the potential of coconuts in Adijaya Village in Kaimana, West Papua, the EcoNusa Foundation initiated the development of white copra in the village since early 2023. The white copra developed is produced from coconuts that are dried using a solar dryer and sulfur. After conducting a socialization in March 2023, four drying houses were built in September 2023. As soon as the drying houses were established, 56 mothers and fathers gathered to learn how to make white copra. Seeing the results of the copra, some farmers committed to building their own drying houses, while others committed to start producing white copra using the drying houses that had been built.
