On Wednesday, September 12, 2024, the Southwest Papua Provincial Government, in collaboration with EcoNusa Foundation, held a technical workshop (BIMTEK) in Sorong to align the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) documents. The purpose of this event was to ensure that the RPJMD adheres to Law Number 23 of 2014 and aligns with the Papua Acceleration Development Master Plan (RIPPP) as well as other relevant development documents for Papua. Participants in the workshop included Bappeda of Southwest Papua Province, the Department of Environment and Forestry, and Bappeda and the Department of Environment from the districts within EcoNusa Foundation’s intervention areas. The aim is for this workshop to facilitate sustainable development in Southwest Papua for the long term.
EcoNusa Foundation highlighted the importance of integrating environmentally-based policies into development planning, including the preservation of natural resources and the involvement of indigenous communities. Previously, EcoNusa Foundation conducted a workshop on the preparation of Strategic Environmental Assessments (KLHS) for Papua and Maluku on May 29, 2024.
