Repair and Construction of Drying Houses in Morekau

The community in Morekau Village, West Seram District, Maluku, relies on their livelihoods from agricultural produce. They cultivate nutmeg, cloves, cocoa, and coconuts. The harvested crops are typically sun-dried. Since 2021, the EcoNusa Foundation has been supporting the Morekau community, including the construction of a solar dryer dome there. The construction of the drying house is part of the activities of the Eco-Involvement School held in this village. The drying house is utilized by the community to dry nutmeg, cloves, cocoa, coconuts, and fish. In early March 2024, together with the community, EcoNusa repaired the existing drying house and added two more drying houses equipped with ultraviolet plastic.
