Nutmeg from Arguni Bawah Sent to Fakfak

For local community in Kaimana Regency, especially in Arguni Bawah District, West Papua, nutmeg is a commodity that can provide livelihood. EcoNusa Foundation and Tomang Negri Lengguru Cooperative work together to collect nutmeg from eight villages in Arguni Bawah, including Manggera, Kufuria, Egerwara, Wermenu, Mandiwa, Jawera, Tanusan, and Nagura. A total of 500 farmers from Arguni Bawah deposited the harvest from their gardens in the form of mace, nutmeg shake, and nutmeg tulip to Tomang Negri Lengguru Cooperative. A total of 528kg of mace and 603kg of nutmeg were collected and sent to Fakfak in the end of February 2024. The relatively higher selling price of nutmeg is the reason why nutmeg from this region is sent to Fakfak. This is conducted in the hope that farmers can get a better price for their superior commodity, as well as improve the welfare of nutmeg farmers there..
