An ecological crisis can be defined as a change in environmental conditions that reflects an imbalance in the relationship between humans and nature, as well as among humans themselves. Examples include global warming, air and water pollution, and ecosystem damage. Jakarta, as one of the major cities in Indonesia, is not exempt from these issues. Various factors can influence the occurrence of an ecological crisis, including public policies, natural resource exploitation, and societal culture, among others. Deep awareness and concrete actions are needed to help address these ecological problems.
Since 2019, the EcoNusa Foundation has been conducting activities focused on young people through Kemah Pemuda (Youth Camp). This initiative aims to enhance the capacity of young people to become environmental diplomats who can promote biodiversity and advocate for environmental preservation and sustainable development policies for the welfare of the environment and Indigenous Communities.
In line with the advancements of the 4.0 era, the role of young people is becoming increasingly important in monitoring both local and national policies. The EcoNusa Foundation prepares young people who possess an understanding, diplomatic skills, and the courage to voice environmental and climate crisis issues in a structured manner, based on data and field conditions. Thus, the youth involved in the Kemah Pemuda can become catalysts for other young people to collectively protect the environment.
