EcoNusa Foundation together with the West Papua Province Regional Research and Development Agency, Universitas Papua, and WRI Indonesia explore the vast expanse of mangrove forests in West Papua. For two weeks we sailed 1000 miles covering 5 districts (Kaimana, Fakfak, Bintuni, South Sorong, and Raja Ampat) with 9 villages in it.
During the expedition, we divided the two groups into different tasks: natural resource and socio-economic groups. We collect the latest data and information about the condition of mangrove forest ecosystems and how coastal communities utilize the forests. What we found in the field was presented in a report divided according to these two groups. It is planned that a similar expedition will take place every year.
