Small Red Bean Cookies: Nutritional Innovation and Empowerment of Papuan Women at SIKIM Production House, Sorong

Small red beans (Vigna angularis) are processed into delicious and nutritious cookies, offering significant nutritional benefits and economic potential. On August 22, 2024, the cookie production process began with the selection of high-quality beans, followed by peeling, dough preparation, recipe formulation, baking, and packaging—each step carried out with stringent quality control. In addition to enhancing the value of small red beans, EcoNusa Foundation has initiated a program to empower Papuan women by providing training in production skills and business management. This initiative enables women to actively contribute to the local economy, creates new economic opportunities, and strengthens their position within the Maybrat community, supporting sustainable development in the region.
