Field Verification of the Tehit Mlaqya and Nakin Onim Fayas Customary Law Communities in South Sorong Regency

Working together with the government, especially in the process of recognizing the rights of indigenous peoples, is very important. Our work with local government have resulted positive outcomes especially for indigenous people rights recognitions in South Sorong Regency. With the South Sorong Regional Government, the Tehit Mlaqya and Nakin Onim Fayas clans who inhabit the Wesrar and Tapiri areas in South Sorong carried out field verification, identification and validation of customary law communities, assisted by EcoNusa (22/9). These two clans succeeded in reaching an agreement to sign the Minutes of Field Verification. Each of the Tehit Mlaqya traditional territories covers an area of 3,780 hectares and Nakin Onim Fayas covers an area of 50,136 hectares.
