On July 1, 2024, PT KOBUMI launched a historic export of nutmeg and mace from Ambon to Surabaya and then to Vietnam on July 28, 2024, marking KOBUMI’s first major milestone. This shipment consists of two tons of nutmeg and two tons of mace sourced from farmers in Banda Naira. Before being sent to Vietnam, the commodities will undergo a five-day fumigation process to ensure the spices are free from pests and diseases, thereby maintaining product quality.
This export is part of KOBUMI’s strategy to expand its international market reach and establish partnerships with leading global companies such as Nedspice. This direct export of nutmeg and mace not only provides economic benefits for KOBUMI but also for farmers and local communities in the Banda Islands. With direct access to international markets, farmers are able to secure better prices for their products.
