EcoNusa Foundation collaborated with the Maluku Provincial Forestry Agency and the Ambon Social Forestry Office to prepare the Customary Forest Social Forestry Management Document, which took place on July 17–18, 2025, in Ambon City. The event also included signing a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the involved parties and the Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) of Hutumuri Village and Hukurila Village, as an initial step toward strengthening community-based forest governance.
Through a participatory preparation process using a bottom-up approach, this initiative aims to strengthen community institutions to independently and sustainably manage social forestry areas. In addition to preserving forests and reducing environmental degradation, this collaboration promotes capacity building and active community involvement in planning, implementing, and monitoring customary forest management.
