EcoNusa Foundation, Ocean Eye, and Banda Naira University held a Capacity Building Workshop for Sustainable Marine Biodiversity Management at Oka Makatita Building, Banda Naira, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. This workshop followed a community perception survey on the success of empowerment and economic enhancement programs in the Banda Islands. EcoNusa’s initiatives in the Banda Islands include literacy programs, farmer capacity building, establishment of producer cooperatives, and support for marine conservation through the Banda Naira Mandiri Waste Bank community.
The workshop was attended by various community representatives, including government officials, fishermen, women’s groups, tourism practitioners, and cultural experts. It provided an opportunity to gather input from stakeholders across the Banda Islands
