From November 16-18, 2024, the EcoNusa Foundation, in collaboration with the Irires Indigenous Tribe in Southwest Papua, conducted a strategic meeting to officially define the boundaries of their customary land. This initiative involved 17 neighboring clans and utilized participatory mapping and focused discussions to solidify agreements on territorial boundaries.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a formal boundary agreement, supported by meeting minutes and an indicative map. The closing session featured messages from traditional leaders and the ceremonial handover of the Biodiversity of the Irires Tribe book as a symbol of the shared commitment to sustainability. This event served as a pivotal moment in affirming indigenous rights, fostering social harmony, and safeguarding cultural and ecological heritage.
