EcoNusa Foundation conducted a Customary Territory Mapping Workshop on May 21–24, 2025, in Neniari Village, West Seram, to support the recognition of indigenous land rights. The workshop brought together 26 participants, including customary leaders, Saniri Negeri (village council), youth, and local government representatives. It emphasized the importance of participatory mapping as a foundation for securing land tenure.
Through in-depth discussions, the community agreed to initiate the mapping process in September 2025. This effort marks a strategic step in safeguarding indigenous territories from non-inclusive investments while promoting just and sustainable resource governance rooted in the rights of indigenous peoples—with technical support from EcoNusa Foundation.
