Indigenous education is learning conducted by indigenous elders called lecturers (moi language called “tiligi”) to all students. Learning is done specifically to maintain local traditions and customs. The culture and traditions are related to traditional medicines, treatment methods, customary boundaries known through genealogy and various cultures passed down by ancestors. Indigenous Peoples do not only view nature as a resource. But furthermore, nature and their customary territories are their identity.

The indigenous education graduation ceremony was attended by representatives of the Directorate General of Culture, Sorong Regency Government, Sorong Regency DPRD, LMA Malamoi, Malamoi Customary Council, AMAN Sorong Raya, Econusa, TNI and Police, and the communities of the seven districts participating in indigenous education.
