North Maluku, has 1,407 islands with an area of 140,255 square kilometers with 76 percent of its territory is ocean. It covers 33,278 square kilometers of land and has a forest area of 3.1 million hectares. North Maluku is a source of life for its residents, as well as being the target of exploitation of many parties. One of the islands is Halmahera, also known as the Wallacea bio-geographic area which is rich in endemic species of flora and fauna, including nutmeg, copra, and cloves.
