On June 2–3, 2025, the EcoNusa Foundation conducted a business planning training for the Social Forestry Business Group (KUPS) of the Tehit Mlaqya sub-tribe in Wersar-Tapiri Village, South Sorong Regency. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of women’s groups in developing simple business strategies, including market analysis, production planning, and basic financial management. Participants also jointly identified the initial equipment and material needs for banana chips production.
The second day featured a hands-on production simulation, where the group processed 13 kilograms of banana chips, which were then marketed through SIKIM’s distribution network. The positive response from the market boosted the participants’ confidence and motivation. This activity marked an initial step toward community-based economic independence, while also highlighting the need for ongoing mentoring, additional training, and stronger market access to ensure inclusive and sustainable local enterprise development.
