Strengthening Forest and Biodiversity Management Capacity with SMART Patrol

EcoNusa Foundation conducted a Data Collection and Management Training using SMART Patrol from January 21-25, 2025, involving participants from Ireres, Bintuni, and Tahota villages. This training aimed to enhance forest and customary land monitoring and management, while also strengthening biodiversity data collection to support more effective ecosystem protection.

Participants were introduced to the SMART Patrol technology-based system, provided online module access, and engaged in hands-on application training. Additionally, they learned GPS operations, from basic functions to territory mapping, to improve data-driven monitoring accuracy and efficiency.

The evaluation and reflection sessions played a crucial role in ensuring participants’ readiness to implement SMART Patrol as a strategy for forest protection, biodiversity monitoring, and sustainable area management. Through a collaborative, technology-driven, and data-based approach, EcoNusa continues to promote forest conservation and biodiversity protection for a more sustainable future.
